Summer Staff Positions - Shoals Marine Laboratory hires twelve seasonal staff to assist with operating the field station on Appledore Island, Maine. The positions include program staff, facilities staff, waterfront staff and kitchen staff. Depending on the position, employment begins in April or May and ends in September or October. Teaching Assistant Positions - Each summer Shoals Marine Laboratory hires teaching assistants to help with several of our undergraduate courses. The number of Teaching Assistants we hire is dependent on the number of students enrolled in each course. The main courses for which we hire Teaching Assistants are Field Marine Science (FMS) and Field Marine & Ecology (FMBE). Our need is usually three Teaching Assistants for FMS and two Teaching Assistants for FMBE. In addition, we will select a Teaching Assistant for the two sessions of our Oceanography of the Gulf of Maine (OGM) high school course. Permanent Administrative Staff - We have several year-round positions that are based either at Shoals Marine Laboratory's main office at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY or in Portsmouth, NH. For information on any currently available positions, see our Permanent Administrative Staff page.
