University in cooperation with the University
of New Hampshire in Durham, SML offers a unique opportunity for students to experience marine science IN THE FIELD!
Located on 95-acre (38.44 hectare) Appledore Island in the Gulf of Maine, this remote – yet accessible environment
allows students to LEARN BY DISCOVERY, surrounded by ocean and mentored by an outstanding academic staff.
The facilities on Appledore Island are complemented by the ocean-going capabilities of the
SML-owned research vessels, JOHN M.KINGSBURY,
and the JOHN B. HEISER.
SML's academic program includes over twenty credit
courses for undergraduates, high school students, graduates and professionals.
